The world's largest collection of roses features, among other things, an extensive collection of wild roses and a collection of around 1,350 historical rose varieties. Modern garden roses are also on display. All in all, roses from over 70 classes bloom in the beds between May and October.
Many of the roses on display are now only cultivated in Sangerhausen worldwide and the preservation of these varieties is one of our central tasks. Every year, numerous new additions are integrated into the collection. Our focus is on completing the collections of historical roses, wild rose species with defined origins as well as modern European roses.
The Europa-Rosarium is one of the 11 test gardens for ADR roses (General German Rose Novelty Test) nationwide. Over 150 modern rose varieties, which have been awarded the ADR predicate for their universal garden suitability and robustness, are presented in the Europa-Rosarium.
