The new: ADR roses

ADR means "General German Rose Novelty Test". All roses bearing this rating have passed a demanding three-year test.
"The most important characteristic of ADR roses is their good resistance to fungal diseases," explains the head of the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen, Thomas Hawel. "This means that these roses can get through the entire rose season without the use of plant protection products. In addition, criteria such as the attractiveness of the bloom, the growth habit of the plants, the rose fragrance and also the frost hardiness still play a role."

ADR roses are therefore often a good choice even for gardeners without many years of rose experience. But how does the testing actually go about, and do ADR roses come in all growth forms?

Garden film author Sabine Zessin explores these questions. Together with Thomas Hawel, she not only roams the testing fields, but of course also the ADR garden in the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen. Here, visitors can take advantage of the rare opportunity in Germany to see all the award-winning ADR roses for themselves.
