The planting of container roses

The planting of container roses

This film is about planting container roses in the summer. At this time, you can only buy roses in plastic pots; bare-root roses are available only in the cold season.
The advantages of buying roses in the summer are obvious: you can look at the flowers, foliage and possibly even the growth habit of a rose during the growing season and decide more easily which variety is the right choice for your garden. After the purchase, however, several questions about planting arise, especially for the novice rose grower:
What does a suitable location for roses look like? What do you have to consider when planting depth and how can you improve the soil, if necessary, so that a rose develops well?

Sabine Zessin's interview partner is master horticulturist Hans-Jürgen Matern, an employee of the Europa-Rosarium with decades of practical experience. We follow how he puts a rose in the ground at the Europa-Rosarium and get helpful tips from him for successful rose planting in your own green kingdom.
